    What is the Grinding?


    Grinding precision machining principle: Grinding is a kind of abrasive precision machining method that grinds a very thin layer of metal from the surface of the workpiece with a lap and abrasive on the basis of finishing. Grinding is divided into manual grinding and mechanical grinding. Grinding uses the abrasive grains that are coated or pressed on the lap to finish the machining surface through the relative movement of the lap and the workpiece under a certain pressure. Grinding can be used to process a variety of metal and non-metallic materials, the surface shape of the processed plane, internal and external cylindrical and conical surfaces, convex, concave spherical, thread, tooth surface and other profiles.

When grinding the plane by hand, the abrasive is applied to the grinding plate and the workpiece is held in a straight reciprocating motion or "8"-shaped movement. After grinding for a certain period of time, turn the workpiece 90° to 180° to prevent the workpiece from tilting. For parts of the workpiece on the surface to be studied, such as facets, square holes, narrow slits, etc., can also be grinding with a handheld lap. The planes on larger, simpler parts can also be ground on a plane grinder. Grind the plane grinding groove. When grinding manually, the surface of the lap should be uniformly ground to extend the service life of the lap. At the same time, we must choose the trajectory of grinding. The trajectories during grinding are straight lines, straight lines, spirals and “8” shapes. The common feature is the planar movement of the machined surface and the rake surface.

    Straight line grinding movement trajectory can obtain higher accuracy, suitable for grinding with stepped and narrow plane. Linear oscillating grinding movement trajectory (left and right swing reciprocating movement) is mainly applied to the grinding of side surfaces of squares and circular arcs that require high flatness. Spiral grinding movement trajectory, can obtain lower surface roughness and higher flatness, mainly suitable for grinding disc or cylindrical workpiece end face. "8" shape and imitation "8" shape grinding movement trajectory, can make the lap wear uniform, suitable for grinding facets.
