  • What Is The Difference Between Turning And Milling ?
    Jul 30, 2018

The common Machining process include CNC Machining, CNC turning, Auto lathe turning, CNC Milling,Stamping, Sheet metal fabrication, Casting, Injection molding etc

The difference between turning and milling: turning is used to process rotary parts, the parts are clamped on the main axis of the machine through three chucks and rotated at high speed, and then cutting out the shape of the product by using the turning tool according to the busbar of the rotary body. The lathe can also be used for machining inner holes, threads, nibbles and so on, the latter two are low speed machining. NC lathe can be used for machining complex rotary body shape. Milling is to fix the blank and use a high speed rotary cutter to walk on the blank to cut out the desired shape and characteristics. Traditional milling is mostly used for milling profile and groove and other simple shapes / features. NC milling machine can be used to process complex shapes and features. Milling and boring machining center can be used for triaxial or multi-axis milling and boring, such as machining, mould, inspection tools, placings, thin-walled complex surfaces, artificial prostheses, blades, etc. When selecting NC milling content, the advantages and key functions of NC milling machine should be brought into full play.

The suitable NC milling process includes: (1) the curve contour, straight line, arc, thread or spiral curve on the workpiece, Especially the contours of curves such as non-circular curves and tabular curves given by mathematical expressions. (2) the space curves or surfaces of mathematical models have been given. (3) although the shapes are simple, they are various in size and difficult to detect. (4) it is difficult to observe when machining with ordinary machine tools. (5) holes or planes with strict size requirements. (6) simple surfaces or shapes that can be machined in a single clamping. (7) NC milling can effectively improve productivity, Reduce labor intensity of the general processing content.
